A gift in your will

A gift in your will

We believe that one day, no one will die of breast cancer

Today, nine women will be diagnosed with breast cnacer. Families will lose grandmothers and mothers, sisters and daughters.

Our mission is to push for new frontiers in early detection, treatment and support to make zero deaths from breast cancer a reality.

You can help by leaving a gift in your Will (a bequest) to the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

It’s simple to do, and any gift, big or small, will make a difference.

Leaving a gift in your Will to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ will help us to:

  • Grow awareness around the importance of detecting and treating breast cancer early;
  • Provide the best possible care to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer;
  • Fund vital breast cancer research, well into the future.

People like you make our work possible.

The people who leave a gift in their Will to us are ordinary, hardworking people who want to make a positive difference to their community after they're gone. The good news is that including Breast Cancer Foundation NZ in your Will is just as easy as providing for your loved ones. And it can be as much or as little as you want.

How to include BCFNZ in your Will:

It is very easy to leave a gift in your Will to enable Breast Cancer Foundation NZ to continue its important work in the years to come.

If you don’t already have a Will, we respectfully advise you to phone your solicitor or trustee company today and make an appointment. He or she will ensure your wishes are correctly and legally stated.

When considering a bequest, we encourage you to take care of family and other loved ones first.

If you already have a Will, including a bequest to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ is simple and quick. You can simply ask your solicitor to add a codicil, which is a short statement that can be added to your existing Will at any time.

The correct wording to include Breast Cancer Foundation NZ in your Will is as follows:

“I give and bequeath to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ (CC30021) for its work in early detection, research, treatment and patient support [list here the percentage of estate, residue of estate or specific amount of money or items], free of all death and estate duties and I declare that the official receipt of Breast Cancer Foundation NZ shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.”

Your gift can take a number of different forms:

  • A specified sum of money;
  • A particular item or items;
  • A percentage of the value of your estate;
  • The residue of your estate after provision for family and other beneficiaries. (The residue of your estate is what is left following payment of all debts and expenses and after payment of specific gifts to family and friends.)

No amount is too small. Whatever the contribution, you can be sure that Breast Cancer Foundation NZ will use your gift wisely to help benefit New Zealand women and their families affected by breast cancer.
