Cara Jae Wigs
My name is Cara Jae. I have been in the hair industry for over 10 years, with the last five years specialising in wigs and hair extensions in NZ and Australia. All of my service is customised to you, whether you live at the top of the North Island, bottom of the South or in the city of Christchurch, we are able to work together to give you a customised unit that you will be proud of. All of the hair that I work with is 100% real AAA cashmere hair, which means you can part it, colour it, cut it and style it to however you like. All the units are made by myself, with realistic hairlines and baby hairs. The length range can start from 10 inches to 24 inches long. I like to do a one-on-one consultation with you either on the phone, in person or over email to get a good understanding of the perfect unit you would like. I can do ready-to-ship items, that are already pre-made (via website), and do fitting services for you to make sure it is the right cap size for you. I also travel (mostly Christchurch area) to the comfort of your own home if wished so you are in a comfortable familiar environment.
Whilst working in Australia I was volunteering at the Peter MacCullum Cancer Centre. There i would do wig fittings , shaving of hair and all Q&As around wigs. The majority of my patients therewished they could have a more luxurious head piece and one that was not synthetic. This was the point in my career where I wanted that to change, I have now made that possible with the Ministry of Health giving me the okay to accept service payments to all my clients and patients. I would love to lend a helping hand.

Artistic Wigs and Hair Ltd
Hi I’m Zoe, owner of Artistic Wigs & Hair Ltd in Christchurch. I’ve been in the hairdressing industry for over 13 years and 8+ years as a Qualified Wig Master. My career has evolved a lot over the years with study and up skill. I completed a Makeup course 8 years ago which involved special effects with prosthetics and Wigs at the Design and Arts College, which I feel helped me become an even more efficient hairdresser. With more in-depth knowledge of skin tone, face shape and how to maximise peoples natural beauty I’ve honed into that and use it with every hair service I provide. After studying Wig Mastery at the Design and Arts College I naturally just took to it and I feel my hairdressing helped.
Without advertising I started getting a few Wig clients come into the salon I worked at and I would do their Wigs for them due to chemotherapy and alopecia. Then a special client of mine put my name forward to work back stage helping with Wigs for the show Priscilla Queen of the Desert. I’ve now helped out with several shows through Showbiz Canterbury doing big productions like Wicked, Les Miserable, Priscilla, We Will Rock You and not to mention some Court Theatre shows as well. It’s my hobby and I absolutely love it. It’s also made me more creative and open to expression, so there is NO style that will freak me out - I’ve seen and worked on it all.
As for the combination of the two sides of the hair coin, the reason I’ve decided to work with both is that my Mum recently fought cancer (and fingers crossed has Won). Even with me as a Wig professional and hairdresser, she was still devastated and it made me realise there’s women out there that don’t have a Zoe in the family to make them feel more comfortable with themselves in an impossibly tough time. So I thought it’s time I got out there and helped out. Contact me for a personal Wig consultation, or any request you have as I strive to be able to cater to everyone within the Ministry of Health Subsidy. My aim is better quality hair solutions for a more affordable price.
Message me for more details on how I can help you and I will respond in a timely manner. I do custom orders and have pre-ready Wigs, subject to availability.

Savanna Hair Solutions
Hi my name is Melissa owner of Savanna Hair Solutions (formerly Beyonce Hair Extensions). We have been in the hair extension industry since 2003. Our specialities are in womens hair loss. We offer solutions to children and women going through hair loss. We understand that hair forms part of your identity and losing it through cancer or any other way can be incredibly traumatic.
What are your options?
We have have options of real hair and synthetic wigs . My personal preference is human hair . I wear wigs myself due to my alopecia and human hair wigs have proved to be more versatile , I can do a lot more with them as compared to synthetic hair, ie I can straighten , curl or colour them, but in saying that synthetic wigs also works long as you are prepared to not having to straighten , curl or colour the hair.
We have wigs in our Papanui Branch ready for fitting or we can do custom made wigs. Our custom made wigs are crafted to your special requirements. They include an individually tailored head measurements and hair matched to your desired colour, texture, length and degree of curl.
The way your wig fits your head is very important. A good comfortable fit is necessary if you would like to wear your wig for an extended amount of time. For us to do a custom made wig , we require head measurements, colour, length and density required for the wig. For clients who can come in person for a consultation, we will take you through the process, and for clients who live outside Christchurch or for some reason you can not come in person, we require you to measure your head using a cloth tape measure that has not been stretched for accuracy. We give you a layout of specific measurements required. Once we get your requirements we will then start the wig making process that takes between 4-6 weeks. Our custom made wigs are made from 100% real hair and can be styled to suit your needs.
Let us guide you through the daunting but positive process of choosing the correct wig or hairpiece.
Why not arrange a free, confidential one-on-one-one consultation to discuss your situation and requirements?

Abreast of Life, Dragon Boat Team (Christchurch)
We paddle a dragon boat!
We took up the challenge from a visiting group of Canadian breast cancer survivors back in 1999 to form a team to race dragon boats. The rest is history, as they say.
Our team members come from all walks of life, we're all different shapes and sizes, we range in age from early 30s to late 70s, the one thing we all have in common, and which bonds us in a very special way, is a diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer.
Having stared the beast in the face, and won, we want to show other women facing this frightening diagnosis that there is light at the end of the tunnel and active life after treatment.
We want to raise general awareness about breast cancer, act as a reminder to have regular breast examinations and mammograms, and serve as an inspiration to all women that yes, we can do anything, and that illness or age need not be a barrier to having a go and, most importantly, having fun, which we most surely do!

My Remedy Integrative Natural Health Clinic
Welcome to My Remedy, the integrated natural medicine clinic committed to offering quality consulting, treatment and education, providing you with a unique and powerful approach to your health, healing and happiness.
For some time we have supported women undergoing breast cancer treatment, and It seems a good time to let you know what a Naturopath is, and how a qualified Naturopath can help you in sickness, and in health. Naturopathy is one of a collection of natural health therapies which support the body’s innate ability to heal. Other natural health therapies include Homeopathy, Herbal Medicine, Hemaview, Nutrition, Massage and Body Therapies, Chiropractic Treatment, Acupuncture, Osteopathy, NLP, Reflexology and more. A Naturopath draws from specialised nutrition, lifestyle changes, herbs, vitamins and minerals – specifically tailored to the patient - to assist the natural healing processes. A Naturopath is very much a general practitioner, and works individually with patients to assess not only their current health issue, but what may be the underlying cause. We are also adept at checking drug/herb contraindications so your safety can be assured.
So what qualifies us to give you this advice? Times are changing. Natural Medicine Practitioners – including naturopaths, homeopaths and medical herbalists - these days have science-based degrees and professional practise organisations. Therapies are based on international university research with biochemical and pharmacological based practices. All of our practitioners are graduates.
We offer homeopathy, herbal medicine, massage, hemaview live blood analysis and reflexology and have a talented and caring team of naturopaths, homeopaths, and massage therapists. We work well with the medical profession and are supportive of treatment you are undergoing.

Regional Cancer Treatment Service (RCTS), Hospital Palliative Care
Palliative care aims to support people and their families who are dealing with life threatening illness. What is Palliative Care? Palliative care can be helpful at all stages of serious illness. It is often best introduced early on in your care sometimes even at the point it becomes clear what is wrong with you. Sometimes it can be appropriate to have palliative care support even when you are having intensive treatments for instance chemotherapy for cancer or renal dialysis for kidney failure. In other words palliative care could be there to support and help comfort you in those times when illness is causing major problems or distress in your life. It should also be available to you wherever you may be ? hospital home or rest home. Your primary care team may discuss the possibility of getting us involved with your care. If you feel that you would like our input, but have not been referred, you can discuss this with a member of the team looking after you.

Support Crew
When dealing with a life event, we struggle to ask for help and it's difficult for those who want to help, to know how. What can end up happening is people don't get the help they really need and continue to feel overwhelmed and stressed, and people who don't know how to help can feel guilty and helpless.
So, Kelly and Janine have developed Support Crew, a free online support platform that makes it easy to give and get a hand. Anyone can set up a private Support Page - it's fast and free!
With Support Crew, it’s super easy. Simply set-up a Support Page, invite friends and family, tell them how they can help (meals or transport or dog walking etc), and keep them updated on how everyone’s doing. It’s the one place to give, get and connect.

Taranaki Dragons, Dragon Boat Team
Taranaki’s breast cancer survivors formed the team late 2007 after becoming inspired when attending the inaugural Breast Cancer Conference in Rotorua. Worldwide there are more than 100 Breast Cancer Survivor Dragonboat teams and the benefits of paddling have long been recognised.
With a ‘can do’ attitude, they decided this sport could be started in Taranaki. They placed an ad in the local newspaper to recruit the first members, got a dragonboat from the NZ Dragonboat association and purchased paddles with the help of many sponsors.
We base ourselves at the Waitara river and we paddle from near the river mouth upstream so are dependent on tides and other boaties slowing down near us.
On a calm day, we enjoy the peace and quiet of the river and the superb views of Mount Taranaki.

Lenzie Clinic
I am a specialist in laser tattoo removal. I have had breast cancer and had both my breasts removed. I did not like having the tattooed radiotherapy marker dots as they were a constant reminder of that episode in my life. I have therefore removed them using my laser. I would like the opportunity to do the same, free of charge for anyone who feels the same about their markers as I did. The only stipulation is that they wait for a full year following their last treatment, whether that be chemotherapy, or radiotherapy.

Breast reconstruction after a mastectomy can enhance a woman's physical and mental well-being and overcome the problems caused by a sense of unevenness after the loss of a breast. Although reconstructive plastic surgery cannot reproduce a normal breast, the aim is to recreate as accurate a likeness as possible which helps to restore a sense of wholeness and balance. Breast reconstruction is a very detailed and complex subject and the information on our website is intended simply as an introduction to a much fuller discussion with your surgeon.
